Having the right assurance processes in place is just the beginning of improving Board performance. As well as establishing the right processes, Trust Boards need to assure themselves and their stakeholders that the trust is delivering patient care in a safe and cost effective manner.
The Board must work effectively as a unit to provide high quality leadership and to build strong relationships in the local healthcare economy. While there is no "typical" or even "ideal" Board, there are critical aspects of performance and interaction that differentiate high performing Boards from the rest.
- Capability: Are the right skills in place to provide leadership?
- Process: Are the assurance and communication processes used effectively?
- Leadership: Is the Board adding direction and vision to the Trust?
- Interaction: Does the Board work well together and challenge appropriately?
- Focus: Is the whole Board cited and clear about the key priorities?

Our Methodology
At Coalescence we have an exceptional team of experienced consultants that diagnose and work with the Board to provide the most effective targeted support. We have worked with many NHS Boards across the country. We are entirely focused in healthcare, all of our work is concentrated exclusively on Foundation Trusts and aspirant Foundation Trusts, PCTs and SHAs. We have significant experience of mergers. The success of our work is based on effective diagnosis and design and implementation of a bespoke development plan. The independent evaluations of our work are outstanding.
